student revision 1 is guilty of plagiarism. plagiarism is often defined as cheating by stealing other person's idea. the first revision is an obvious form of plagiarism since student revision 1 did not cite the original owner of the idea he/she discussed in his/her revision. citation is important to avoid plagiarism for the purpose of giving credit to author of an original concept being presented. student 1 should have recognize the author of source in a proper citation and considered paraphrasing the entire article properly.

student revision 2 is guilty of plagiarism. student revision 1 differs from student revision 2 in such a way that student revision 2 recognized the source of the specified concept. this may be a better showcasing of a revision, however this does not free student revision 2 of plagiarism. citation follows rules and specifications and student revision 2 was not able to follow some of these certain rules. aside from having a proper citation, student revision 2 could be improved further by paraphrasing the thought of the article by using his/her own words while retaining the same meaning of the concept.
